Welcome to Transitional Kindergarten at Twin Lakes! I am Ms. Hostetter and I look forward to meeting and having the privilege of spending this upcoming year with your children.
On your first day of school:
- Please dress your child in clothing that is comfortable. Be sure to put a change of clothes and a plastic bag in their backpack…just in case.
- Backpack large enough for papers and folders to go in without folding and smooshing. No mini/preschool size backpacks, please. Be sure to label it with your child’s name and bring every day.
- We have an optional snack break during recess each day. Please send items that your child can open themselves. Here are a few healthy suggestions: fresh fruit, vegetables, crackers, cheese, yogurt, etc.. Keep this snack small so your child has plenty of play time.
- Reuseable water bottle that closes. Be sure to label it with your child’s name.
Items to donate for community use in the classroom (no names on these):

Kindergarten - Mrs. Costas
Dear New Kindergartners and Families,
We are excited to welcome you to Twin Lakes ! We hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready to begin the school year in Room 7, 8 or 12. We hope to meet you at our Kindergarten Kick-off, July 31-Aug. 4. During this week of fun super hero themed activities, we will be articulating and assigning your student a kindergarten teacher. You will find out your teacher on August 5.
On your first day of school:
- Please dress your child in clothing that is comfortable. Athletic shoes with velcro work best at school, but closed toed sandals are good as well.
- Although it is not required, we encourage your child to bring a backpack in order to make it easier for them to transport projects and papers to and from school. If you choose to send a backpack to school, please label it on the outside of the pack to make identification easier. We will be sending a communication folder home daily with your child’s completed work, school letters, etc. We will provide these folders the first week.
- We have a snack break during the first recess each day. We are encouraging ALL students to bring a snack, because we have a late lunch. Here are a few healthy suggestions: fresh fruit, vegetables, crackers, cheese, yogurt, bars etc.. Please do not send juice because we have had an ant problem in the past. Don’t forget to LABEL water bottles! NOTE: We are being VERY careful about our students with nut allergies. Please inform your child’s teacher right away .
- Your kinder will have lunch during their school day. You may choose to bring a lunch from home or get a school lunch. Please let your kinder know if they are bringing a lunch from home or if they need to get a school lunch.
Lunch from home…Label lunch boxes on the outside. Make sure your kinder knows how to open all packages, put in straws and use a zipper. Place in class wagon.
School lunch…Please inform your kinder of the lunch choices. There will be a meat and vegetarian option. They will need to tell their teacher their choice and cannot switch their choice during the day.
We’re looking forward to a fantastic year!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Costas, Mrs. Hofmann and Mrs. Nordin
